Bellwork red balloon

I think in this passage the narrator is trying to say that untl she gets some friends of her own other than her sister she wont really be able to do anything she wants to do. If she had some friends other than her sister she could go and explore the real world with them but with her sister she cant really do that stuff. With her sister she could probably not do anything really fun because they live in the same house so they cant like go anywhere else where with a friend she could go somewhere else sometimes.
